Armature for a bookend

An easy way to create a bookend is to use a square sheet of metal (copper or something like that) in which you cut a doorlike shape. Don't cut the sides or the bottom, just the top, left, and right side of the 'door'. See sketch on the left. After that, bend the frame around the 'door' upwards and you'll have a nice, sturdy bookend.




After creating the armature for the bookend, I added an armature for the bookcase. This I made from cardboard, because it doesn't have to withstand the pressure of heavy books leaning into it. so, just a simple cardboard box without a cover, see below.

     
     

The shelves each have a glue strip on one end. The other end is the front end. You can make each shelf the same size, or you can make smaller top shelves.
