Manta ray: finising touch

After you've finished your manta and added all features and details (maybe some small grooves on the belly or the fins?) you can finish the base.

You can flatten the clay on the base or make stripes into it with a cocktail-stick or other tool. Or, if you want to, you can make the base into a sea bottom by modeling little shells, mounds of sand, etc, on it.

If you're totally happy with your manta, bake it. Follow the instructions on the clay package.

I hope this case gave you enough handholds to make your own manta ray.

You can make more figures using this 'stand on your tail' technique. Use it for dragons, wyverns, and other fantastic monsters or snakes and the like. Let your imagination loose.
